Domain Name Registration – Do You Need One?
Domain name registration is nothing more than buying a name for your website. For example, our domain name is KingdomGraphics.net. You can’t have a website without having a domain name.
We’ll often go to GoDaddy.com and see what’s available. Their homepage makes it easy to see what’s available.
You may buy it there, but we don’t!
Domain Name Registration – Purchase a domain
Ready to purchase a domain name? Wait, you might not have to “buy” it. Some hosting plans include a free domain name (or offer it free for the first year, for example). We sometimes roll our domain name purchases into the hosting.
Depending on the deals that are being offered, we may recommend buying your domain name through Godaddy, Bluehost, or other location.
Domain Name Registration – Length of Purchase
Domain Name Registration varies in length but must be purchased in yearly increments. You can purchase for one year or several years. It’s your choice.
We recommend that you set your domain name to auto renew. That way you won’t lose it! Because let’s face it…taking the time to renew our domain name is a hassle. It’s easier to let the registrar renew it when it’s due and bill us accordingly.
Domain Name Registration and Hosting
Domain name registration and hosting are two different things. Domain name registration means you own the name. Hosting means you have someplace to store your website code so that others can access your website. Hosting is available at a myriad of places.
If you’re looking for someplace to host your WordPress blog, see our page on WordPress hosting.
